A Company with Soul is a Company that Gives Back

No man is an island, and at Ithaka, we believe that a company with soul is a company that gives back to the communities in which it operates. It is why “stewardship” is one of the values on which our company is based.

Within each community we serve, Ithaka selects one not-for-profit organization or charity with values that align with ours in which to place the majority of our efforts, donations and time. We have found that this not only increases our impact, but provides a conduit for our team members to become engaged as well, if they choose to do so.

Storybook Farm

Storybook FarmWithin the community of the first property under Ithaka’s management, we are a proud supporter of Storybook Farm.

Storybook Farm is a non-profit ministry benefitting children with a variety of physical, emotional, social and cognitive challenges through the interaction with horses. Through The Hotel at Auburn University, Ithaka employees donate time and resources to ensure the non-profit can have a positive impact on as many lives as possible. Employees from every department within The Hotel have participated in various activities within Storybook Farm, creating a sense of community and a feeling of accomplishment.

Five Loaves, Two Fish

A Food Rescue Program

Ithaka’s food rescue program, “Five Loaves, Two Fish,” was created to make positive strides in fighting local hunger by gathering food resources that would otherwise be wasted.

“Five Loaves, Two Fish” gets its name from Luke 9:15-17, in which Jesus feeds the masses from this small amount of food.

Each week, team members at The Hotel at Auburn University take overproduced food  – food that has never been exposed to the public – and repurpose it to create a highly nutritious, delicious soup. We are not only interested in easing hunger pains, but also adding nourishment through quality food – not just empty calories.

This soup is served at the Auburn United Methodist Church “Food Pantry,” funded in part by the Food Bank of East Alabama, and helps those who are hungry in our community. This service is making a real, measurable impact on those suffering from food insecurity in our area.

Clean the World

Recycling slightly used soaps to those who need it most

Hotels discard hundreds of slightly used bars of soap and bottles of shampoo every day. By partnering with Clean the World, we are able to give those soaps a new life, helping those in need and reducing overall waste.

Ithaka Hospitality Partners properties recycle our slightly used soaps for the betterment of the world.

The mission is for each student to be an active participant in the Auburn community, to the best of his or her ability, through interagency collaboration and school professionals inspiring, educating, and empowering individuals with disabilities. The Tiger T.R.A.I.L.S. class participates in over five community-based partnerships per week in the Auburn Community to address employment, social, and life skills in the real-world setting.
