1856 – Culinary Residence
A culinary residence at the corner of campus and community.
Every year, a nationally acclaimed chef will work alongside our Ithaka Hospitality Partners team as well as Auburn University’s culinary science faculty to create a unique restaurant concept. We provide an ever-changing culinary experience for students as well as clientele in a beautiful and intimate environment. Our vegetables, produce and herbs come from an operational rooftop garden, created and managed by Auburn University’s Horticulture Program, and looking out over our iconic Samford Hall.

Hey Day Market
Located adjacent to the main entrance of the Rane Center on South College Street, this bright and airy 10,000 SF food hall is accessible to students on campus as well as to members of the local and business communities, visitors, shoppers, and alumni returning to campus.
The Hey Day Market is a vibrant addition to Auburn’s culinary scene and a favorite gathering place for students, family and friends on South College Street. At the market, nine vendors serve crowd-pleasing meals that are thoughtfully prepared onsite with sustainable, organic ingredients. One vendor stall will be a dedicated incubator where graduates of the Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management can develop business concepts and get their operations off the ground.
The building features industrial elements including stained concrete floors and steel-framed windows providing incredible views of the green space. A mix of individual and communal tables foster an inviting community atmosphere.
